Recognising ERM’s commitment to sustainability in China
18 December 2012
ERM has been recognised for its commitment to building a sustainable business in China after being named as a finalist in the Best in British Business 2012 Awards – Sustainability Award Category.
The China team was one of five finalists which also included Marks and Spencer, Unilever, Morgan Thermal Ceramics, and Standard Chartered in the awards category which recognizes companies that have demonstrated a commitment to the building of a sustainable business in China. The award criteria assessed how sustainability has helped to create a competitive advantage for the company, and the culture of sustainability within the organization’s management and staff.
The judges emphasized that it was challenging to choose a winner and the awards committee praised ERM for “a good balance between internal programs, engaging employees throughout the organization, and external programs designed to engage local communities and local governments.” Ultimately Unilever received the honor.
Dr. Shaun Xie, ERM China’s Managing Partner, remarked ‘Being recognized as a finalist for the Sustainability Award highlights ERM’s efforts to help our clients improve their sustainability performance in China. During the interview with the assessment panel we presented a copy of ERM’s new Sustainability Report documenting our commitments and achievements as the world’s leading sustainability consultancy.’
The award ceremony was organized by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and attended by the UK’s ambassador to China and many senior executives of our clients. For more information see http://www.britishbusinessawards.cn/.
