ERM to be CERAWeek’s first Sustainability Partner
03 March 2011
ERM is at CERAWeek next week - the world’s leading annual energy conference which brings together industry leaders, senior officials and leading experts. It offers a unique forum for high level dialogue for more that 2,000 distinguished energy leaders from over 50 countries.
As the conference’s first Sustainability Partner, ERM will bring its thought leadership and proven ability to help energy companies turn sustainability challenges into competitive advantage throughout the lifecycle of major capital projects. Research by ERM based on Goldman Sachs' data, indicates that as many as 70 per cent of the world’s biggest energy projects are materially delayed by sustainability issues (ie environmental, safety, and community/social issues). These sustainability-rooted project delays are occurring in OECD countries and non-OECD countries alike. With its global footprint, ERM has supported many of the world’s project financiers, owners, and operators as they identify, develop and execute on multi-billion capital projects worldwide at a time when reputation is increasingly key.
CEO John Alexander and Chairman Philip Gore-Randall will be attending with John is leading a Strategy Roundtable on the subject of Sustainability & the Water Footprint of Oil & Gas.
Global Commercial Director Shawn Doherty explains: “ERM is honored to be CERAWeek’s first sustainability partner - it fits perfectly with our strategy to become the sustainability consultancy of choice for corporations worldwide. Energy industries are facing an enormous challenge to meet global demand growth, which some estimate will increase 40 per cent by 2030, while governments, customers, and the public at large continue to press for cheaper, reliable, lower-carbon energy. Our sustainability advisors and their program management teams have something really important to offer our clients in this regard.”
ERM is the sustainability consultancy of choice for energy companies as they identify, develop and execute major capital projects in a world where reputation is increasingly key. With offices in 40 countries and over 3,600 staff we work with both business and government clients, helping them understand and manage their impacts on the world around them.
CERAWeek 2011 runs from 7-11 March 2011.
