Through the ERM Foundation, this holiday season we are supporting two projects that address the issue of sustainable food production within low income communities.

ERM employees globally are sending electronic ‘Holiday e-Cards’ to their clients and suppliers. For each e-Card we send, ERM will make a donation to support these two initiatives:

Sustainable cocoa farming in India

In India, we are working with a social enterprise (GoGround) that supports small-scale cocoa farmers in the state of Kerala. Our donation, coupled with technical support from ERM employees, will build an innovative drying system that uses agricultural waste to generate biogas.

This biogas will be used to dry the cocoa beans during India’s rainy season, so that fewer beans are spoiled by humidity – and farmers can obtain maximum income for their crop.

Nutritious food for orphans in Haiti

In Haiti, we are funding an international non-profit organization (ADRA Puerto Rico) to create a vegetable garden and small livestock farm that will provide a reliable and sustainable supply of nutritious food for orphaned children.

This will be maintained by an agronomist who will also work with the children to teach them farming techniques.
