Solaire Direct: Drennan Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Park

Solaire Direct Southern Africa (Propriety) Limited propose to develop a photovoltaic (PV) solar park facility on the remaining extent of Farm Drennan (Portion 39 of Farm 523, Portion 0 of Farm 600 and Portions 15 and 16 of Portion 1 of the Farm Waai Plaats (no. 550), Cradock), Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality, Eastern Cape. The proposed facility will utilize photovoltaic (PV) cells to generate electricity that will be fed into the National Power Grid via the existing 132kV Drennan Traction Substation on site. The activity will involve the installation of PV panels with an output of 90 MW where an area of approximately 110 ha is likely to be transformed. This activity will require environmental authorisation from the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) through an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
