Environmental Impact Assessment

for South Deep Mine Solar PV Plants

Gold Fields in collaboration with Enel Green Power (EGP) is proposing  to  develop 2x20 MW Solar PV plants at their South Deep Gold mine near Westonaria, Gauteng. EGP will build, own and operate the solar plant.

The proposed plants will be located on Mine owned property within the Goldfields South Deep Mining Right in Westonaria, Gauteng, South Africa. The Solar PV Plant will be connected to the mines 11kV power grid.

The Project requires Environmental Authorisation (EA) from the National Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) under the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (Act No. 107 of 1998), through an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
