ERM, the world’s largest ​specialist sustainability consultancy, is collaborating with Centrica Energy Storage to deploy ERM’s emissions.AI solution. Using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, this cloud-based digital tool generates granular and actionable insights to help complex industrial facilities better understand and manage their energy efficiency and carbon emissions.

Centrica Energy Storage (CES) owns and operates Rough, the UK’s largest gas storage facility and will deploy emissions.AI at its Easington Terminal. By enabling the optimization of areas including process configurations, operating procedures, plant start-ups and shutdowns and equipment performance, emissions.AI delivers continuous, autonomous surveillance to monitor energy use. Real time emissions data will enable Centrica Energy Storage’s operations team to pinpoint excess emissions and the sources of energy consumption. This will play a valuable role in helping to reduce future emissions, without compromising production.

This project demonstrates Centrica Energy Storage’s commitment to the energy transition, which also includes hydrogen storage, transport and production ambitions in the area.
