Principal Consultant with the Contaminated Site Management Practice in South Africa
My career at ERM started while I was still studying for my Masters in Environmental Management at the University of Cape Town. I jumped at the opportunity to join a company with such a strong global presence and impressive client base. I also recognized the potential for career growth and professional development.
I wasn’t wrong: in just over seven years I have progressed from working as an intern to Principal Consultant, and I continue to see great growth opportunities both at a professional and personal level.
During my time at ERM, I’ve worked within three of the company’s practices - Impact Assessment and Planning, Performance and Assurance, and Contaminated Site Management - which has given me a broad understanding of the business and some fantastic opportunities.
I’ve helped financial institutions adhere to the Equator Principles, assisted with due diligence assessments for mergers and acquisitions, and conducted Environmental Impact Assessments.
I’ve also worked with some of the biggest and most successful companies in the world. ERM prides itself on fostering long-term meaningful relationships with its clients and it’s rewarding to be part of that, providing quality advice and exceeding client expectations.
Although I now spend most my time at our offices in Cape Town, I have travelled to more than a dozen African countries as part of my work, including Zambia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
I am currently helping to co-ordinate a key client program that involves conducting Environmental, Health and Safety Assessments at more than 150 active sites across Southern Africa. As part of the program, I am overseeing a number of site-specific projects focusing on soil and groundwater investigations and remediation.
I enjoy working with like-minded professionals and the challenges that come from a constantly changing environment. Despite these changes, ERM remains constant for me and our clients, combining innovation and excellence with trust. I am proud to tell people that I work for the world’s leading sustainability consultancy.
