ERM Observations and Insights: AEF 2017
07 August 2017
As a sustainability leader in Africa, ERM was once again pleased to participate as the Sustainability Partner of the Africa Energy Forum 2017.
As a major sponsor at AEF, ERM had the opportunity to introduce sustainability issues faced by the power sector in Africa to the conference agenda. We also shaped and moderated AEF's first panel discussion focused on environmental and social (E&S) risks affecting project development de-risking strategies and the bankability of power projects in Africa.
Feedback on the panel discussion was very positive, reflecting how prominently E&S issues feature on the agenda of investors, lenders, project developers, EPC contractors and other players in this market in Africa. The session was moderated by ERM Partner, James Stacey and the panellists were:
- Tebogo Movundlela, CEO Aurora Wind Power, ENGIE
- Jens Thomassen, Director, Denham Capital
- Nicolas Souche, Principal Investment Officer, IFC
- Maarten van Renssen: ESG Director, Globeleq
- Kristian Heydenreich, Senior Director Corporate Social Responsibility, Vestas
Download our Insights document for our general observations and insights from the AEF as well as the main points emerging from the ERM-led panel discussion.
