ERM will be a Sustainability Partner in the 5th International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), as well as sharing insights on “The mine we want to see” and how mining companies can address their sustainability challenges.

Many mining companies nowadays are facing the sustainability challenge, and seizing the opportunities that come with this. There are various drivers such as population growth, shift to low carbon economy which boost the demand. On the other hand, there are disruptors which possess threat to the demand such as sustainability differentiation, stakeholder sentiment.

ERM will also be exhibiting at booth C86 and our mining experts will be available for targeted discussions throughout the conference on the sector’s sustainability challenges and solutions.

As sustainability partner, ERM is collaborating with IMARC and providing sustainability tips to delegates in order to make the conference as sustainable as possible.

ERM Speakers

Keryn James is the Group Chief Executive of ERM. She commenced this role in April 2017, having previously been the Global Director of Operations and the Regional CEO for Asia Pacific. Keryn joined ERM in 1993 and has worked with clients across a range of geographies including Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.

She has over 25 years’ experience in sustainability and Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) consulting across a broad range of sectors including mining, oil and gas, chemicals, infrastructure and power. She has supported clients in the development of sustainability and EHS strategy, evaluation of mergers, acquisitions and divestments, as well as project development and implementation and operational performance management, working at corporate and site level. Her specific technical expertise including social and environmental impact assessment, due diligence and management.

Toby Whincup has some 20 years of consulting experience. His technical experience covers the entire project life cycle, primarily in the mining and energy sectors, and can be broadly defined as investment and reputational protection through identification, mitigation and management of material nontechnical risks and liabilities.

Project experience includes ESHIA, environmental and social strategies, community consultation and stakeholder engagement, due diligence, and sustainability related strategies. Toby has worked in Asia (Brunei, China, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam), Africa (Ethiopia, Guinea, South Africa and Sudan), Australia and North America. Including Malaysia (3 years), Thailand (3 years) and Vietnam (3 years).
