04 February 2014
ERM was pleased to be a sponsor the Scottish Transport Conference 2014: Realising the Economic and Social Potential of Transport - Future Investment & Growth
This conference, held in Edinburgh, focused on the core role that transport plays in supporting the Scottish economy and how Scotland prepares for growth. The conference provided an opportunity to examine the role that transport plays in every aspect of Scotland’s activities, the range of investment and services delivered, how each transport sector can contribute to strengthening economic opportunity and the potential the industry carries well beyond its core activities.
Core themes covered included:
- The wider role and impact of transport investment in infrastructure, services and people - growth and the economy; opportunities for rural and remote Scotland
- The role that Scotland’s transportation systems can play in supporting and stimulating growth and development of the wider Scottish economy
- The importance of Scotland’s transport infrastructure to our domestic and global economic development - considering the potential for, in particular, greater direct air and maritime links internationally and also the opportunity presented by high speed rail
- How taking a strategic economic approach to Scotland’s transport systems can sow the seeds for sustainable future growth across key sectors of the Scottish economy
