Value Creation & Sector Insights: An ESG Seminar for Private Equity
9 February 2017
ERM is hosting a seminar for Private Equity (PE) panellists focusing on Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) value creation, with sector-specific insights from corporate specialists and ERM experts.
ESG issues continue to provide the private equity industry with a real opportunity to create value in the portfolio, for LPs and for society as a whole. Investor interest in private equity managers’ approach to ESG issues is already strong and set to grow further, spurred on by initiatives such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the UK Modern Slavery Act and rankings that show ESG efforts in supply chains. The Montreal Carbon Pledge, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises to the financial sector are also helping change attitudes. Many LPs are now looking for real evidence of how ESG management is
In ERM's 2016 survey of investors, 70% of respondents told ERM that they have seen ESG have a material impact, while over 95% of survey respondents confirmed that there is significant untapped value from ESG within their portfolio companies.
