ERM recognized for our Travel Risk Assessment process

10 June 2016

ERM has been recognized for the extraordinary emphasis it places on the health, security and safety of its people involved in international travel.

The recognition stems from being selected as a finalist for a 2016 “Duty of Care” award in the category of Resilient Care. Our selection for this short list was based on the features and benefits of our Travel Risk Assessment (TRA) process and system which enables our staff to meet both client and internal requirements associated with planning and conducting international travel.

The Awards – organized by the ISOS Foundation – aim to recognize organizations and individuals who have made a significant contribution to protecting their staff as they travel and work overseas. Judges reviewed more than 100 entries, representing more than 18 industries and from organizations in 29 countries. Categories include Innovation, Thought Leadership, Resilient Care, Communication, and Partnership.  ERM was highly commended in the category of resilient care.

The winner of the Resilient Care category was The Dow Chemical Company for its entry describing a wellness program established for a project in the Middle East. In addition to being shortlisted, ERM’s TRA entry was recognized as “highly commendable” alongside the entries for Harris Corporation and Samsung Engineering Co Ltd. Other shortlisted companies included Bloomberg; Fairfax Media; Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Mondi Group; Nokia OY; Symrise Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and Weir Minerals Europe & North Africa. Speaking about ERM's entry, the judges praised our risk assessment database with its good monitoring potential. They added: "ERM has a dashboard which is user-friendly and presents complex data cleanly and efficiently.”

Commenting on the recognition, ERM’s Global Health and Safety Director Gary Beswick said: “The very nature of what we do as a company finds so many of our people travelling to, and working in, unfamiliar and challenging environments. With this comes exposure to serious and complicated risks which can impact personal health, security and safety. Our TRA system has been developed to help our staff and management teams recognize, evaluate and control these ever increasing risks. This commendation validates our approach to managing travel safety and security as well as our TRA process and system.”

The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on 16 June 2016 at a special event in Hong Kong.
