ERM CVS is an accredited Validation and Verification Body (VVB), providing independent carbon credit integrity assurance to project developers, carbon credit buyers and investors looking to de-risk their investments and boost trust and credibility in the voluntary carbon markets (VCM).
The VCM allows organizations to mitigate unavoidable emissions by purchasing carbon credits to represent the reduction and removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, enabling organizations to take responsibility for activities beyond their value chain and contribute to the net zero transition.
Navigating the complexity of carbon markets can be challenging for buyers and sellers. A lack of centralized standards and evolving methodologies, tools and verification approaches have resulted in a fragmented and fast-paced landscape with a growing number of providers.
To ensure future growth in voluntary carbon markets, enhanced trust and integrity are essential. Organizations can achieve greater transparency and credibility in their decarbonization efforts by sourcing high-quality carbon credits from ICVCM-accredited carbon credit schemes and assuring VCMI Claims against VCMI's MRA Framework.
Demand for independently validated and verified carbon credits combined with robust due diligence methods is growing as organizations seek to maximize the value of voluntary carbon markets and strengthen stakeholder confidence.
ERM CVS is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to deliver validation and verification services for carbon projects and their related GHG emissions reductions and/or removals. The accreditation is based on multiple standards (ISO 17029, ISO 14065 and ISO 14064-3). The full accreditation details can be found here.
This internationally recognized accreditation highlights our technical competency and integrity and gives organizations the assurance that the validation and verification services are of the highest quality. This helps to reduce the time spent on the final review of carbon credits by Green House Gas (GHG) Protocols following registration and/or issuance requests.
As a highly experienced validation and verification body (referring to its previously held UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) accredited Designated Operational Entity [DOE] status), ERM CVS is familiar with a wide range of different project types, methodologies and GHG programs and standards.
Verra founded the VCS program to support the sale of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) in a global voluntary carbon market. As of 2024, Verra had certified over 2,200 projects associated with the reduction of over 1.2 billion Tonnes of CO2e across 96 countries.
ERM CVS engagements conducted as a Verra VCS VVB result in a validation and verification report. If this contains a positive assessment opinion, it could be submitted, along with a project design or monitoring report (generated at the start of the project) to Verra VCS as supporting evidence, leading to the issuing of VCUs to the project developer.
