In an ever-changing world of new scientific developments, government policies and regulations, and public accountability, product stewardship professionals face unique challenges and responsibilities. ERM will be an active participant at the conference with three representative speakers and two workshop presenters at Stewardship 2016. Their presentations, described below, cover a range of topics that illustrate ERM’s commitment to supporting our clients’ business objectives through good product stewardship.
We will also have an exhibitor booth at the adjoining AIHce conference, where you can meet members of our product stewardship, sustainable safety and industrial hygiene teams.
Sarah Medearis, Partner at ERM, will speak on Monday, May 23rd on Product Stewardship Program Management Post-Divestment. Ms. Medearis will focus on a case study involving a three-phase program review with regard to right-sizing and realigning a product stewardship program for an industrial coatings firm after divestment from a large chemical manufacturer. The case study will include a detailed description of the approach taken as well as the outcomes from the program review.

Wayne Bergin, Principal Consultant at ERM, will speak on Tuesday, May 24th on Best Practices for Product & Chemical Compliance Due Diligence in Mergers and Acquisition. During this session, ERM will provide practical and tested insights into how to integrate product stewardship into M&A diligence processes to minimize business risks and maximize value and the opportunities emerging from using diligence to develop a cost effective product stewardship post-merger integration plan.

Kerrie Canavan, Consultant at ERM, will speak on Tuesday, May 24th on the challenges and solutions of multi-jurisdictional compliance. Ms. Canavan will focus on the fact that because there is not one unifying mode of compliance under different regulatory processes, businesses must adapt to manage the submission process and avoid delays in the supply chain. In this express session, the challenges and successes of concurrent product registrations in numerous countries will be discussed, illustrating key points reflecting the complexities of complying with common international requirements and best methods to adapt to these challenges. She will present how organizational strategies can be created for efficient submission coordination and applied to a variety of regulatory notification schemes. In addition, Ms. Canavan will discuss solutions that can help ease the complexities of multi-jurisdictional compliance that can lead toward process standardization.

On Sunday, the 22nd, Kate Sellers, ERM Technical Director and member of the Board of Directors of the Product Stewardship Society, will be one of the instructors of a full day workshop titled Principles of Risk Assessments for Product Stewardship. The workshop is designed to introduce new and early career product stewardship professionals, and those who may work with or support product stewardship, to the basic principles of risk assessment.
On Wednesday the 25th, ERM Principal Consultant Connie Prostko-Bell, will co-host a 1/2 day workshop titled Realizing the Full Business Value of Product Stewardship. This workshop will focus on how the Product Stewardship function contributes significantly to the bottom line and supports a company’s ability to enter and participate throughout the product life cycle.
