Christina Phang appointed Chartered Engineer and Fellow with IChemE

Christina Phang, Managing Partner for the Risk Practice in South East Asia, China and Australia, has been appointed as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council of the UK via the IChemE. The appointment recognizes Christina as having attained an internationally recognized and respected mark of competence and shown commitment to the chemical engineering profession
IChemE is the global professional membership organization for people with relevant experience or an interest in chemical engineering, with risk and safety recognized as core elements of this profession. The awarding of Chartered Chemical Engineer status by IChemE is considered to be the professional qualification that sets the gold standard in chemical, biochemical, process and related areas of engineering across industry and academia. The title is recognized globally and is understood across all sectors of the profession. It is valuable to individuals, employers, regulators, government and society as it provides:
- a benchmark of professional competence and commitment
- external validation and independently conducted, peer review
Register of Fellows
In addition Christina has also been entered in the Register of Fellows. As a Fellow with the IChemE this recognizes her active leadership and participation in the institute’s activities in Malaysia, including being committee member and Technical Chair for the HAZARDS AP (2011 and 2013) and Chair of the Safety and Loss Prevention Special Interest Group. This includes organizing talks and seminars for IChemE members in Malaysia where she is based and includes IChemE’s 4th Regional Process Safety Seminar which was attended by > 100 participants. Christina also participated in an industry panel discussion led by IChemE CEO, Dr David Brown, to promote chemical engineering as a vocation.
Christina has also been recently appointed to serve as a Board member of IChemE Malaysia for 2014.
